PoE2 Recombinator Guide: The 100 Divine Crafting Engine

PoE2 Recombinator Guide: The 100 Divine Crafting Engine Cover Image

The Engine for Making 100 Divines a Day

Welcome, Exile. If you want to make serious currency, you need to understand one specific tool: The Recombinator.

Many players ignore it because it looks complex. But for the top crafters, the Recombinator is an engine that generates 100 Divines per day. It allows you to move high-value modifiers onto perfect bases with surprising consistency.

This guide will explain exactly what the Recombinator is, the hidden rules you need to know, and two specific "Wealth Codes" to get you started.

1. What is the Recombinator?

The Recombinator is a special crafting bench found in the endgame. It allows you to merge two items into one.

Here is how the basic process works:

  1. Input: You place two items of the same class (e.g., two rings) into the bench.
  2. Selection: You must select at least one modifier from each item. You can select up to 6 modifiers total across both items.
  3. Restriction: You cannot select the same type of modifier twice (e.g., you cannot pick "Adds Lightning Damage" from both items).
  4. Probability: The game shows you a success probability in the center (0% to 100%).
  5. Recombine: You click the button to see the result.

The Three Outcomes

When you recombine, the result is not random. It will be one of these three scenarios:

  • Success (Left Base): The Left Item base is kept. It will have only the modifiers you selected. The Name and Item Level are preserved.
  • Success (Right Base): The Right Item base is kept. It will have only the modifiers you selected. The Name and Item Level are preserved.
  • Failure: Both items are destroyed. You get nothing.

Note: The resulting item will always be Rare, even if you only selected two modifiers.

2. The Golden Rules of Recombination

To avoid burning currency, you must follow these strict rules.

  • No Special Items: You cannot use Sanctified or Corrupted items.
  • Fractured Mods on Original Base: If the result keeps the original base of the fractured mod, the fractured mod is always kept. You don't even need to select it.
  • Fractured Mods on Different Base: If the result keeps the other base (not the one with the fracture), the fractured mod is lost unless you specifically selected it.
  • The "Non-Native" Rule: This is the most important rule. "Non-native" mods are mods you cannot roll with a Chaos Orb (e.g., Essence mods or Desecrated mods).
    • You cannot transfer a Non-native mod by itself.
    • To transfer it, you must select it along with a Native mod.
    • The success chance becomes the average of the two: (Probability(Non-native) + Probability(Native)) / 2.

3. The Secret to High Success Rates

Generally, it is very difficult to transfer low-weight (rare) modifiers onto high-level bases. The game lowers the success chance for powerful mods.

However, there is a "secret" formula crafters use. We won't bore you with the complex math, but here is the practical rule:

The Low-Tier Strategy: One of your input items should have very low-tier modifiers (T8 or T9).

The calculation for success depends on the mod Tier and the Item Level. By using a "trash" mod (T8/T9) on one side, you drastically increase the overall probability of the recombination succeeding. This is how we print currency.

4. "Wealth Codes": Profitable Recombinator Recipes

Here are two proven strategies currently generating massive profit in Patch 0.3.0.

Strategy 1: The High-DPS Ring

This strategy creates high elemental damage rings that sell instantly.

SlotModifiers to Select
Left ItemDouble T1 Flat Damage (e.g., Fire and Lightning)
Right ItemT8 or T9 Attribute (e.g., +15 Strength)

Why it works: The T8/T9 mod boosts the success rate of moving the T1 Damage mods onto your desired base.

Strategy 2: The Endgame Quiver

This creates a quiver with +2 Projectile Level, a mod that is extremely expensive to roll naturally.

SlotModifiers to Select
Left Item+2 Level of Projectile Skills
Right ItemT9 Physical Damage (Adds # to # Physical Damage)

Why it works: You secure the rare +2 mod by pairing it with a cheap T9 mod. The market pays a premium for +2 Projectiles, regardless of the other stats.

Summary

The Recombinator is not a gamble; it is a calculation. By understanding the "Non-Native" rule and using the "Low-Tier Strategy," you can print items that most players think are impossible to craft.

Start with the Ring strategy to build your bank, then move on to high-end Quivers. Good luck, Exile.
